    mr_pisstachio suestemarie atomicthumbs Yeah. You blow away the oxygen with Argon and CO2 in some mixture. CO2 can be zero (and usually is in TIG?). The big difference is that the tungsten electrode in TIG isn’t consumed when welding like the copper coated steel electrode in MIG.

      mr_pisstachio suestemarie atomicthumbs You really need to break through the surface oxide, so TIG can help with the ability to use AC. The real issue is, a bad steel weld can hold up pretty well and you can hide a lot of sins with the angle grinder. (I mean don’t do that in a vital life safety weld, but otherwise…)
